OBJECTIVE:
ConstructEdge (CE), a B2B technology company, provides internet and other connectivity solutions to construction companies and their jobsites across North America. Due to the intangible nature of CE's offerings, it was often difficult for customers to picture why they should choose CE for jobsite internet. These decision-makers looked at diagrams and schematics all day, but needed help to envision our story and solutions within them.
PROCESS:
In a brainstorming session with the Vice President and Sales Director of ConstructEdge, we reworked how we were going to show our solutions, even the intangible ones, to the market. It became clear to us that in order to support the story of how our services enable real-time data and live communication on the jobsite, we needed to show our capabilities (story) in the style that customers knew and understood already. That is how the isometric-style graphics began.
Initial graphic iterations were simple and mostly in grayscale to allow the highlighted solutions to stand out. These graphics took time, and required a large amount of research and understanding of what I was building. As I improved my workflows, I became faster and more efficient; even turning a full scene request in 1 business day. I also started adding more color back in as I became more comfortable with the graphics; the larger ones were becoming especially muddy in too much grayscale.
