2022 - 2023
OBJECTIVE:
In 2022, I was contracted to develop a logo for a new therapy office opening locally. RISE Counseling & Consulting started from one woman's vision of bringing mental health support to a small Iowa town.
Once the business was established and had some momentum, they brought me back to develop a website that supported their capabilities and would help them bring on new therapists and clients.
What began as a 5-person outfit is now a thriving therapy business that has blossomed into 7 office locations, over 40 therapists (including interns), and countless Eastern Iowans benefitting from accessible mental health care in their rural communities.
PROCESS:
When I began this project, I had my client fill out a branding questionnaire. This allowed me to gather her ideas and inspiration, as well as her vision for her clinic's identity. She specified her desire for the logo to include a hot air balloon and wanted to incorporate some mandala elements. Her preferred colors were purple and teal.
The hot air balloon and pattern were hand-drawn on my iPad in one color. I then brought the drawing into Illustrator to clean up the vector and start experimenting with layout and fonts. My choices were intentional to support the client's vision of a vibrant and accessible clinic. RISE is a more handwritten aesthetic, and the humanistic serif font is clean without feeling overly stuffy.
